The Haldon Belvedere an 18th century turreted folly (also known as Lawrence Castle) is located in a solitary position on top of a ridge to the west of Exeter. It is out of the way but close to the villages below the ridge and offers a chance to get away from it all without being too remote. The castle is on the edge of Haldon Forest which offers extensive access to the surrounding countryside. The fully self contained apartment which is on the second floor is accessible via the Lawrence Room and the cantilevered spiral stone staircase with wrought balustrades and mahogany handrail. Leading from the main living area which sleeps 2 with its lofty ceiling and Georgian gothic detailed doors and windows, there is a separate bathroom with bath and shower, and a fully fitted kitchen, which are built into the two turrets. |

In 2022 with the long term lease of the Haldon Belvedere to Devon Historic Buildings Trust at an end, the custodianship of this iconic building was returned to the owners - the local charity Stringer Lawrence Memorial Trust. In May 2025 it was announced by trustees that the transfer of ownership of the Haldon Belvedere and grounds had been made to Devon Historic Buildings Trust and the top floor luxury penthouse holiday apartment was relaunched for short breaks.
